Lyme Street

The quintessential New England village, Interior Inspirations 2010 is set in a quintessential New England village anchored by the historic Lyme Street in Old Lyme, Connecticut.

An autumn afternoon is a perfect time to enjoy a stroll on Lyme Street. Complete with art galleries, a fine jewelry store and even a chocolate shop, Lyme Street has inspired weekenders and artists to spend a leisurely afternoon enjoying its tranquility and beauty.

Be sure to stroll to the south end of Lyme Street to see the Old Lyme Congregational Church, enjoying its centennial birthday and famously painted by Childe Hassam (whose “Church at Old Lyme” is shown above). Henry Ward Ranger first came to Old Lyme over a century ago seeing a landscape “waiting to be painted. ” With that, The Lyme Art Colony began at the Florence Griswold House and our town’s cultural history took its shape.

A number of Lyme Street merchants are providing tie-in promotions in support of our beneficiary, Child & Family of Southeastern CT. Please check at the front tent for a list of additional incentives.

  • The Bee and Thistle Inn and Spa, 100 Lyme Street, presents their Interior Inspirations Early Bee Dinner, on Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23 at 5:30 pm. Please join us for a three course dinner for $35. Reservations please, 860-434-1667. Part of the proceeds will benefit Child & Family Agency.

  • EF Watermelon, 24 Lyme Street, will be hosting Wine and Cheese, Friday and Saturday afternoon, October 22–23, 1 to 4 pm; donation to benefit Child & Family is suggested.

  • Patricia Spratt for the Home, 60 Lyme Street, will be open Friday and Saturday, October 22 & 23, 9am–4pm, for special custom orders, with a percentage of sales to benefit Child & Family.

  • The Old Lyme Ice Cream Shoppe, 34 Lyme Street, will donate a percentage of sales during Interior Inspirations. Now featuring an autumn menu of soups and sandwiches, the Ice Cream Shop is also a great stop for coffee, or enjoy inventive homemade ice cream flavors perfect for a fall day.

  • The Garvin Gallery and the Diane Birdsall Gallery, at 10 Lyme Street, will be open to complete your Lyme Street stroll — both donating a percentage of their sales to Child & Family.
